The Addis Site – Hertford
The Addis Site is located central Hertford, with previous industrial and commercial use. The scheme was for a high density development of semi formal layout, terraced, using the natural landform of the site, which rises to the north-west.

The concept for the landscape was to form a central feature which related directly to the town houses and apartments, with a water feature as its central 'spine' rising up to the apartments and cascading gently over a series of steps to a pool at the base. Much of the landscape is on a deck above car parking, requiring careful structural consideration and the use of irrigation. The retention of notable existing trees in this important town centre setting and the creation of an exciting new landscape structure shows what can be achieved on 'brownfield' sites.

ACD provided landscape assessment, tree survey, landscape, master plan, detailed landscape proposals and detailed design of roofscape and water features. The scheme won the ‘What House’ Gold Medal for brownfield site development last year.
